Hitler joins the German Workers' Party
1 Febuary 1919The German Workers' Party changes their name
to the German National Socialist Workers' Party
and changes their symbol to the Swastika
9 February, 1920Hitler attempts armed overthrow of German
government, "Beer Hall Putsch." He fails and is
imprisoned for high treason for five years.
1 April, 1924Nazis only win 2.6% of votes in the Reichstag
