Japan's colonial rule over Korea ends with
it's WWII surrender. Soviet troops occupy
the north, and U.S. troops occupy the
south.1948
Korea is divided between the Soviet-
backed North and the U.S.-backed South.
Shortly after the division The Democratic
People's Republic of Korea (D.P.R.K) forms,
after this the Soviet troops withdraw.1950
The South declares independence, this
sparks the Korean War.1953
A truce between North & South Korea
effectively 'ends' The Korean War.1994
