Danish astronomer Ole Romer discovered that there were varying intervals between elipses. The difference was then led to discovery that light had speed.
Isaac Newton discovered the light spectrum and how they bend when in contact with prisms. (REFRACTION - that light is a wave and that it can change in direction when passing through medium) White light contains every colour, and objects would absorb the colours they wanted, and reflect the colours that humans see.
Astronomer William Herschel, discovered that there must be invisisble light, past we can visibly see as humans. (called Infrared).
Johann Ritter tested the other ends of the spectrum, in which he found that chemical reactions occured fast, which led to 'ultraviolet rays'
James Clerk Maxwell discovered that speed of electromagnetic waves = speed of light *PREDICTION OF ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES* Realised that there were varying frequencies & wavelengths for different types of waves
Maxwell's equations, which proved that electricity, magnetism & light all come from the same force. (electromagnetic force).
