The Sovereign State of Plancaidus is created
During the first student lead activity, our class was able to work together in order to reach the goal of creating an identity for our nation.
After voting The Sovereign State of Plancaidus as the name, we decided on the following characteristics for our nation.
Hot Climate Flat Landscape Fish, wheat, livestock, and tropical fruits Rich minority, poor majority Values are education, healthcare, equality, justice, and wifi
The values that were represented in the creation of our national identity clearly reflect Canada's.
Canada has a rich minority and poor majority Canada values education; The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom mentions that everyone has the right to an education Canada values equality; this is stated under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom.
Healthcare; in Ontario we have OHIP which is used to help citizens cover the costs healthcare Equality rights are clearly stated under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom that every individual is equal before and under the law (Canadian government, 1982).

The voting process
We voted in a democratic way. The democratic way of voting is a process in which everyone gets an equal vote in order to express each citizens opinion.
Election Attempt #1
Election Attempt #2
During are first election two parties were created; the FED's and the CONSERVÀTIVES. These parties were both fighting for control over the unitary government(only one district) this differ's from Canada as they have a Federal government instead. Also in Canada you vote for the person, not the party where here you vote for the party.
FED's (Freedom, Equality, and Democracy)
Founder: Azfar Leader(was voted on by party members): Yaz The FED's was the party that I was a member of, They were the second biggest political party. They felt strongly about everyone being taxed fairly, health units being distributed in an equitable way, and everyone having a voice in important matters. I joined this party because I found that this party best reflected my secret agenda beliefs.
CONSERVÀTIVES
Founder: Souvik Leader(voted for by party members): Souvik The CONSERVÀTIVES believed that there should be no tax for upper and middle class, food, education, healthcare, and energy should be privately owned, and provide government aid to people in emergency's.
The vote that took place was unlike Canada's as it was not a constituency since there are no voting regions. After a democratic vote the CONSERVÀTIVES had the most votes, meaning that they won and that the FED's would become the official opposition.
After coming to the decision that it would not be in the our best interests to keep the existing government it was decided that there would be another vote done in a different fashion that was more like the election process in Canada. The new plan was to vote for individual people not the party which is the process our system uses. This resulted in many people running for Prime Minister.
The results of this new and improved election were somewhat similar as Souvik was once again voted leader, I found this to be a poor desision since he seemed content of weakening the already weak. The official opposition changed to Khrish (a former member of the CONSERVATIVES) and the additional Members of Parliament were: Kye, Azfar, Yaz, Waleed, and Ameer.

Planning Process, before the initial event started we were asked to make a plan.
My initial plan was to purchase apartment D4 using a co-bidding technique with the help of Yaz, Oren, and Charlotte. Also attempt to purchase farm C6 with Charlotte and Christine
Evolution of the Plan
After losing the bidding war for apartment D4 the plan was revised; both Yaz and Oren decided to help in the effort to purchase farm C6. We unfortunetly were unable to win the bidding war for the farm, this resulted in me not owning any hexes.
My failure to purchase any hexes resulted in me having the third most money in the nation. Despite not being ideal I don't think that this is bad. Not only will I be able to afford the necessities I will also have money for the units that can give you well being points. With this being said I have no job/way of making money.
. . . . . . . .
This was the point in which are we started the legislative process of producing bills.
The Government in the auction
The government seemed to be rather unprepared as they were constantly arguing over matters and often disagreeing with the Prime Minister. Some of the things that the government bought include; a house, security, healthcare, and a share in the farm hex. They also got in a bidding war for education but lost.
How it works Prime Minister and MP's represent the executive arm(this is important for implementing, enforcing, and supporting laws) The MP's make up the legislative branch(they are able to discuss and make important laws) National judge and jury represent the judicial branch(Important since they provide equal justice while still following the law)
This process reflects the Canadian democratic system, which in turn helped me to better understand about the law. I know understand how bills are made and passed and I finally understand the difference between the executive, legislative, and judicial branches.
Passed Proposed Bill 1: Initiated by the Prime Minister, Souvik All citizens who own a hex will be prioritized for any and all amenities, anyone who disobey's this law will be penalized. Reasons: Hex owners would basically run the countries Penalties include: higher taxes and confiscation of business Revised: All citizens who own/co-own a hex will be prioritized for any and all amenities, anyone who disobey's this law will be penalized.
Passed Proposed Bill 2: Initiated by the Leader of the Opposition, Khrish Remove the citizens from the jury, replace with MP's Reasons: There may be bias when voting Revised: Tw citizens and 1 MP will be a part of the jury, only in the event of a tie will the one MP vote, citizens will be chosen by draw
At this time I did not have a hex which posed a problem since I would be unable to get a fair chance at purchasing any amenities. With the help of Charlotte I was able to purchase half of her green hex(F6).This resulted in a co- ownership. This meant that I was able to have a better chance during the open market.
Passed Proposed Bill 3: Initiated by the Prime Minister, Souvik Units prices will be determined by the owner and can be subject to change Revised: Unit prices will be mathematically determined based on account of money.
Irrelevant Proposed Bill: Initiated by the Leader of the Opposition Government should have a budget per quarter
This was deemed irrelevant due to us only playing for one year
Passed Proposed Bill 5: Initiated by the Prime Minister, Souvik No taxes on services , except electricity Revised: No taxes on services, except on electricity owners and sellers for %20.
All the bills that were passed were written down both individually by citizens and on the civic mirror website under legislation. This is a crucial step for any and all bills being passed. This is because if some one breaks the law there is proof of how they are breaking it. Also putting it in a public place is in important as it allows for everyone to have access to it and people can't use ignorance as an excuse in a court case.
When starting this simulation everyone had a fairly level head filled with good intensions. We were planing on creating a kind, equal, safe, and friendly environment.

This was the part in which all the trading took place
This bill ended up being troubling for anyone attempting to purchase an energy unit (which was quite a bit of the population) since it made the transaction take more time and effort.
After witnessing the two events unfold I am able to notice that our government in a individualist way. I know this since after watching them discuss different matters it is clear all the MP's and the Prime Minister are working in an every man for themselves based way.
This is the opposite, of in my opinion, the preferred way of collectivism. In a collectivism based government all the MP's and the Prime Minister work together to make a decision, they value the group as whole over themselves.
During this period I was able to purchase an apartment, three A&E units, an insurance unit, a technology, and a food unit. I was able to pay relatively good prices for all of these amenities so I believe that I did a good job at managing my finances.
I was able to buy units in technology and A&E that gave me many wellbeing points. Also in purchasing an apartment unit and food unit I was able to ensure that none of my family members died. With the above purchases I able to get in the top five citizens for the most wellbeing points resulting in me receiving an extra ten status points.
One problem that I did encounter was that I was unable to purchase any education units, this was because only willing to trade a unit for a unit. Also education was a monopoly since one single person owned all of the education units and hexes.
At one point during are open-market we experienced the first evidence of corruption in our government. The Prime Minister transferred the security hex from the government account to his personal account, he then proceeded to give away security units to his friends for free. This is an example of nepotism; nepotism is people are given unfair opportunities based on who you know, not what you know.
The Prime Ministers role
The crisis vote is a vote of non-confidence. In this case the Leader of the Opposition put forward the idea to vote for him as dictator on the account that the current government was corrupt. After the vote took place it was revealed that he had won, our government turned from a democracy to a dictatorship. With this many things changed for example he changed are whole legislation and added and took away bills at his leisure.
I have to admit that after some contemplation I eventually decided to vote for him since I, like the other citizens, realized how terrible are current government was. With this being said I have to admit that I am quite ashamed of this. Instead of being able to work out the problems we openly gave away are freedom, which is a terrible fate for any country. On the other hand, I am disappointed to say that having a dictator as the leader made our events run much smoother and everyone seemed a lot more r
. . . . . . . .
The town hall was an event in which citizens were allowed to voice their opinions and our leader would attempt to find a solution or answer.
The question's asked were somewhat disappointing as they were very repetitive and it got to the point that it was different people asking the same question worded differently.
I was prepared with a question that was unlike the others as I was genuinely curious about the answer, my question was “If during the revolution there is an apartment building that gets destroyed does the government plan on compensating for the losses?” the reply that I got was there would be a little bit of compensation but not a great amount due to most of the government’s funding being gone
. . . . . . . . .
The national court is the day in which we hold any and all trials. The judicial system has been changed so that our dictator was both the judge and jury. This meant that he made all the decisions.
Guilty Case1: Mohammed, Haseeb, Kye, James, Waleed, Afar, Ahmed, Yaz, Charlotte and I sued Suvik Reason for suing: Corruption Pleading: Innocent Evidence: Audio recording of him stating he doesn't care about the poor majority Well being points, only the rich have more than 10 wellbeing points
Guilty Case 2: Waleed and Souvik sued Haseeb, Mohammad, and Ahmed Reason for suing: Hoarding electricity units Pleading: Innocent Evidence: Danish called to stand, he was unable to find a home due to power not being sold to him They have three unused power units in their possession
Defence: Sold four units to the government, Danish was called to the stand to verify this fact; these units were used to power health, security, and the two farms They didn't sell units to Waleed because he was offering below the asking price Proposed Punishment: One energy hex and three energy units Punishment: One energy unit and $375
Thrown Out Case 3: Haseeb, Mohammed, and Ahmed sued Souvik This case did not take place as the leader deemed that neither side was properly prepared
The Country as a whole
He went against Plancaidus's Charter of Rights and Freedom Defense: Believes he was expressing his personal opinion All the laws were voted on by the MP's Poposed Punishment: $10000 taken and distributed to the poor majority and confiscation of his mansion hex Punishment: $3000 taken and distributed to the poor majority and confiscation of his mansion and house hex
We started off with strong feelings towards democracy and equality but, in the end we created a nation with lawsuits against the former government for corruption, a dictator running the country, and many laws that hurt the poor majority. This was the exact opposite of what we wanted to happen.
We treated are weakest members, the poor majority, terribly. In fact, next to no people of the poor majority scored over 10 wellbeing points. The weakest members, the ones that should have gotten the most support, were treated like how Canada treated the Indigenous people. The Indigenous people got ignored and all their problems and concern's got swept under a rug.
I took place in this law suit. I did not prepare the material but, I did support the idea.
Needless to say this was a terrible thing to do but I must admit that since I got a fair bit of money I didn't realize what was going on until reflecting on it. This is what happened with Indigenous people, many citizens were ignorant of the suffering in which they endured. Canada is slowly building a relationship with the Indigenous people they have apologized for and stopped most of the mistreatment that was inflicted upon them but, there is still a long road to recovery a head.
This situation has taught me how it is in human nature to accept privilege and how easy it is for us to forget about others problems.
Me, as a citizen
As a citizen I would like to think I did a pretty good job as for the most part I understood the situations/events and was able to participate to the best of my abilities. I, of course, am not perfect and their were some situations that I did not do the best at. One problem I had was that I couldn't bring myself to run for an MP position since I didn't like the idea of having to sit in front of the whole class and being pressured to make important decisions.
The Experiance
I think that this was a very educational experience, I was able to learn many new government terms along with processes and systems that the government runs. The most important lesson I learned was how important social skills are, you need to be able to communicate what you want/need in an effective manner, this is something that I think I could work on and that will be valuable in everyday situations.
