this was when despite being caputerd it didnt stop them from fighting back at the french. even tho they were caught they were still trying to get there independence. as well the people who joined the french decided to join back to saint domingo and fight along side them.

this is important because the maroons and saint domingo were tired of how they were treated. they were fighting back and it also got the people who joined the french from Haiti to join saint domingo in the fight.
