2 ene 1749 año - J.S. Bach - Mass in B Minor, BWV 232
Descripción:
Mass in B Minor, otherwise known as BWV 232, is one of the largest compositions of Johann Sebastian Bach (J.S. Bach), composed in 1749, prior to his death. The piece belongs to the mass genre and was made for soloists, choir, and orchestra. Uniquely, "It is made up of music composed over a 25-year period, some of it adapted, some of it new. Its manuscript is divided into four large sections with no overall title, and it came to be called the Mass in B minor only by later generations. It was not performed complete until 1859, more than a century after Bach's death" (“J.S. Bach’s Mass in B Minor, BWV 232.” Boston Baroque). The structure of the piece follows the traditional sections of a mass, those being Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, Agnus Dei, and Dona Nobis Pacem. One section in particular, the Sanctus, is very memorable since the choir sings dynamic, almost ethereal sounding melodies. The fact that Bach was able to blend his past compositions to the extent he did with Mass in B Minor shows his intricacy and synthesis with being able to make a composition that was influenced by German, French, and Italian influences.
