After the War of 1812, The Federalists changed their name to Whigs. Whigs were formed in 1833. Henry Clay became the leader of Whigs, at this time the opposition side was the Democrats who were Democratic-Republicans, changed names by Andrew Jackson. During this time the parties were in hot competitions especially in case of election, which Andrew Jackson won and became the President.
