Zaitao, born in 1887, was a Qing dynasty prince and military official who played a key role in modernizing China's military during the late imperial period. He was the younger brother of the Guangxu Emperor and the uncle of the Xuantong Emperor (Puyi), maintaining a prominent position in the royal family during the twilight of the Qing dynasty and its aftermath.
