The Kansas-Nebraska Act revoked the Missouri Compromise, allowed for popular sovereignty, and created two new territories of land. The conflicts that occured between pro-slavery and anti-slavery settlers led to a period of violence known as “Bleeding Kansas”, as well as helping to pave the way of the American Civil War.
