A book written by Harriet Beecher Stowe, Uncle Tom’s Cabin put people in the shoes of slaves, converting many Northerners to abolitionists. The South despised the book, calling it fake news and even banning it. The increase in abolitionists meant more people were one sided, wanting to take action against slavery.
