The Museum of Modern Art in New York City had a exhibition dedicated to Picasso titled - Picasso: 40 Years of His Art which Pollock visited. This exhibition contained 334 pieces by Pable Picasso - a European artist who was the co-creator of cubism. Cubism is a modern art movement from the early 20th century. The exhibit led Pollock to recognize the power of European moderism, which he previously rebuffed for American muralism. After attending the exhibition, Pollock began to create a new style of semi-abstract totemic works, such as his piece titled "Untitled" which was created in 1939.
