18 ene 1788 año - 2. First fleet arrives in Australia
Descripción:
On 17th of May 1787 the First Fleet which had 11 boats, started to sail from England to Australia 8 months later they arrived in Australia Sydney Cove. On the 18th of January 1788 The First fleet arrived in Australia Botany Bay, but Captain Arthur Phillip felt like it wasn’t a suitable place for the Crew / Convicts so Captain Arthur Phillip went to look up north more for a better place and found Port Jackson where the rest of First Fleet arrived on the 26th of January.
Captain Arthur Phillip felt like Botany bay wasn’t a good place to anchor down due to it being too open and unprotected and the land underneath being too shallow so the ships would be too heavy to move from the sand. So they moved to Port Jackson and that was where they first met the indigenous people of Australia or Terra Australis.
