When Tothek won the election of Tsĩvgalè in 1882, the members of the party knew that he would try to take away women's rights and so they refounded the Women's Party in order to fight to protect their rights.

At first, Tothek did not remove any rights until after he burned the Oipientian Constitution. Once it was burned, he then removed the 16th Amendment and the labor reforms for women. He would later pass a law that barred women from having any occupations and also obtaining any form of higher education, lower education was alright.

Once he banned the Red Party, the OWP went underground but continued their movement to regain their rights. The OWP became one of the most powerful anti-Tothek groups in Oipienta
