The PPSF has a seat on the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) executive council but holds limited influence. It has had a history of militant activities, including attacks on civilians. The party rejoined the PLO in 1991 and has participated in Palestinian elections, though with minimal success. It is a consultative member of the Socialist International and operates several front organizations.
