Towards the end of March 2006, Citizens Advice Newcastle's Community Advice Service project in the Outer West concluded. Unfortunately, the funding for this project ran out. This initiative had been providing a vital outreach advice service, making it easier for residents in the Outer West to access independent and impartial advice and assistance.

The project was recognised in a survey of service users at the Outer West Customer Service Centre as one of the key service providers in the 'one-stop shop'. Additionally, research for the Lemington Resource Centre business plan identified a need for the project's services in the new centre. Despite its value and success, the project ended due to a lack of continued funding.

The project's success was largely attributed to the efforts of advice worker Mandy Smith, whose departure was met with great regret. Mandy was a valued member of Citizens Advice Newcastle.
