13 agos 2006 año - Start of Financial Inclusion Fund
Descripción:
The Department of Trade and Industry has provided financial support to Citizens Advice Newcastle to address the increasing issue of private debt. This funding enabled Citizens Advice Newcastle to employ Money Advice Workers. The government has recognised the growing problem of debt and, in response, has given a financial package to the National Association, which allows Citizens Advice Newcastle to hire debt workers to assist clients struggling with debt.
Specifically, the funding has allowed for the employment of six Debt Advice Workers along with administrative support. Three workers were appointed in August 2006, with an additional three hired in April 2007. This project has been extended to 2011, and Citizens Advice Newcastle is currently in discussions with the Department of Trade and Industry to determine the exact financial resources available for the next four years.
Projects like this are increasingly necessary due to the rising need for debt assistance. Citizens Advice Newcastle’s specialist debt and welfare benefit units are available for client referrals, providing help with benefit appeals, including representation when possible.
Clients now have access to Citizens Advice Newcastle’s new face-to-face debt advice project, funded by the Department of Trade and Industry, ensuring that those with debt issues can receive prompt, free, and independent advice. This service is especially important given the growing presence of debt management companies that charge fees for services. Citizens Advice Newcastle offers services for free. By providing this project, Citizens Advice Newcastle ensures that advice and information are readily available to those in need.
