Citizens Advice Newcastle is actively involved in setting up an innovative project with the Nestlé Chocolate Factory at Fawdon. The project aims to provide accessible advice to the workforce by placing a dedicated caseworker in the factory for four days a week, covering all shift patterns. This initiative represents a true partnership, with the Legal Services Commission contributing a small grant for setup costs, Nestlé funding the position, and Citizens Advice Newcastle supplying the caseworker and all necessary support. Initially set up for six months, the project proved successful, leading to a one-year renewal and extending its duration to 30 months. This project attracted national interest and became a model for private-sector contracting.
