2 mar 2002 año - Office Moved to Nelson Street

Descripción:

In 1999, the Grainger Town Trust purchased Wastage House, which houses Citizens Advice Newcastle's main office, and wished to demolish it.

Citizens Advice Newcastle quickly found new premises to move into at 35 Nelson Street. Two applications were made to the National Lottery in 1999 to purchase and refurbish the premises, but both applications were rejected by 2000.

When it seemed like Citizens Advice Newcastle had no choice, the city council stepped in and agreed to purchase 35 Nelson Street and grant Citizens Advice Newcastle a 25-year lease on the premises. Additionally, both the city council and One North East agreed to make a substantial contribution towards the refurbishment of the premises.

The move provided Citizens Advice Newcastle with exceptionally spacious and adequate premises for the long-term future and greatly enhanced their service delivery to clients.
