Citizens Advice Newcastle has been a proud member of Tyne and Wear Citizens since 2017 and in 2021 CAN was involved in a listening campaign at Sunderland University. After listening to members of staff and students, it was clear that people thought that all the staff at the University should be paid at least the Real Living Wage.

In Dec 2021, dressed as Santa and the elves we did an action!! Along with other members of Citizens UK, CAN presented the testimony about the affect being on a low wage was having on the staff, as well as the benefit a Real living wage would have.

Sunderland accredited with the Living Wage Foundation in April 2022
