The advisers in Cowgate have been busily occupied this year with the Department of Health and Social Security Forum and its campaign against sub-standard furniture supplied by unscrupulous dealers. An even longer-standing committee, the National Fuel Debt Working Party, was concluded in June 1984, culminating in the paper, "Poverty and Paying for Fuel", which has been distributed to MP's and Fuel Boards throughout the country. Cowgate clients contributed their own graphic experiences of fuel poverty to this paper.

This evidence paper didn't survive to this day, but the campaign is mentioned in the 1983/4 annual report and is one of the earliest campaign efforts of Citizens Advice Newcastle.
