29 ene 2012 año - Case Study

Descripción:

A client approached Citizens Advice Newcastle with a request for information on welfare benefits he could claim after leaving the Army due to injuries sustained during active service. The client had received a redundancy package from his service, along with a service pension and savings, which disqualified him from means-tested benefits.

Internal discussions were held between the Cowgate Project, a welfare benefits adviser, and the Royal British Legion (RBL) Caseworker to determine the best course of action for the client. It was considered that a Disability Living Allowance (DLA) claim would not be impacted by his current income or savings. The RBL Caseworker advised that the client could apply for a War Disablement Pension, as his injuries were incurred in active service, which provides a higher level of financial assistance compared to the highest level of DLA.

The client was provided with direct access to specialist support tailored to his specific needs after engaging with the Cowgate at Home project. This demonstrates the integration of the project within both the estate and the broader National Citizens Advice network.
