28 jun 1759 año - The fireboat strategy

Descripción:

The British have a convoy stretching 150 miles down the St. Lawrence River. Since the British have never sailed that river they capture two French-Canadian pilots and forced them to navigate their way through it for them. They establish a base of operations on Iled Orleans.
They establish cannons and start firing. In effort to respond the French came up with a strategy called "fire ships", this is when they chain a bunch of old ships rigged with explosives next to each other and send them floating down to river, the hope was they would reach the British fleet then be lit burning the British and their ships. Unfortunately for them it was unsuccessful. It would have been very effective had it worked because during that time it was bad luck for a British sailor to be able to swim, so none of the British sailors could swim. That means they would have burned alive or drowned.

The British must have been scared shirtless. A HUGE wall of fire going in their direction. Good thing for them it burnt out before it reached them.

The French would have been quite sad after the failure of the fire ships considering they put a lot of resources into it.
