The Tribunal Assistance Scheme is now a major success, so much so that other Citizens Advice branches have started to implement similar schemes.

Additionally, the experience that T.A.S. gained by providing advice on the new "Housewives' Non-Contributory Invalidity Pension" benefit has led to requests for information and comments from organisations monitoring the operation of the benefit. These include national organisations concerned with the welfare of the disabled and the government department involved in administering the benefit. This is one of the earliest instances where Citizens Advice Newcastle used its knowledge and expertise to influence policy.
