This year, Citizens Advice Newcastle (CAN) became an independent charity. Previously, it operated as part of the Northumberland and Tyneside Council of Social Services.

Although the National Association of Citizens Advice had severed its ties years ago, it took some time for Citizens Advice Newcastle to organize its affairs to do the same.
