Descripción:
There are four different psychosurgical techniques that have been in common use in recent years: anterior cingulotomy, subcaudate tractotomy, limbic leucotomy and anterior capsulotomy.[3]
In the United Kingdom, psychosurgery continued during the 1990s at the rate of fewer than 30 operations a year. In 1999 there were eight operations - one in London, three in Cardiff and three in Dundee, all for depression, anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder
anterior cingulotomy is a neurosurgical treatment for chronic refractory depression, pain, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Anterior cingulotomy involves the placement of bilateral lesions in the anterior cingulate under stereotactic guidance
subcaudate tractotomy is a surgical procedure performed for the alleviation of intractable affective disorders.
