3 sept 1939 año - German Appeasement
Descripción:
Causes:
1. By the late 1930’s Germany had become a very aggressive force in Europe. German forces had taken over Austria, which was the birth country of Hitler, and the German part of Czechoslovakia all under the excuse of reuniting the German race.
2. The other European countries, in particular France and England, were afraid of triggering a war with Hitler who had been building up military capabilities since he came into power. Europe wasn’t ready for another war with Germany.
Effects
1. Europe tried to appease Hitler, cowardly by allowing him to take what he wanted. Hoping that he would stop his aggression after Austria and Czechoslovakia. Hitler was already granted the Olympic games in 1936 which turned out to be a massive Nazi propaganda event.
2. The Munich agreement in 1938 formalised this appeasement policy, that the leaders of France and England gave legitimacy to Hitlers claims.
3. However they were all fooled. The Nazis always intended to reverse the outcome of the first world war and build the so called 3rd Reich, a grand German empire that would last thousands of years and stretch all the way from England to Russia.
4. It was not until the Nazis invasion of Poland started when the allied forces had no other options than to declare war to Germany. Italy and Spain sided with Germany, and England and France formed the allied forces, later joined by America and the Soviet Union. That was the official start to world war two.
