1 mar 1965 año - Wilson's involvement in the Vietnam War

Descripción:

America wanted Britain's military involvement in the Vietnam War.
Wilson was divided-he wanted to help but the war was unpopular in Britain. Additionally, America was helping Britain with it's economy through loans. Wilson needed to not militarily involve Britain in the Vietnam War whilst still keeping a good relationship with America.

Wilson would involve himself diplomatically in the Vietnam War, being the USA secondary spokesperson in UN meetings.

Wilson believed he had a special relationship with Russia and he also believed he could negotiate a peace.

He invited the USSR and USA to a meeting in London in March 1965. However the US did not show up.

Wilson would try multiple attempts in peace negotiations with Russian and US spokespeople especially during the Vietnam New Year's truce. He even visited Moscow in 1966. However all of these would fail.

The US and British special relationship was not damaged by this, but it was not as strong as it once was.
