30 nov 1947 año - Fajja bus attacks

Descripción:

On November 30, 1947, the day after the UN adopted the Partition Plan for Palestine, an Egged bus traveling from Netanya to Jerusalem was attacked by Arab militants in what was thought to be retaliation for the assassination of the Shubaki family 10 days earlier. The bus, intercepted near the village of Fajja, resulted in five deaths, including a young woman en route to her wedding. A second bus attacked shortly afterwards resulted in two more deaths. These incidents marked the first attacks of the 1947–1948 civil war in Mandatory Palestine. The attacks occurred amidst an Arab general strike and rising tensions following the UN's partition decision. Historians like Benny Morris suggest these were retaliatory for earlier violence against Palestinians, while others consider them as protests against the UN resolution.
