20 jun 1923 año - Sixth Palestine Arab Congress

Descripción:

From 16 to 20 June 1923, a congress chaired by Musa Kazim convened to decide on further actions regarding the Palestinian cause. It was resolved to send another delegation to London, opting for less radical policies. A debated proposal for a campaign of non-payment of taxes under the slogan "no taxation without representation" concluded without a decision. The congress passed twenty-four resolutions, including boycotts of Pinhas Rutenberg's Palestine Electricity Corporation and Jewish goods. In October, the more radical National Party was formed, in opposition to the Muslim-Christian Associations and the executive committee. Additionally, the congress passed a resolution in support of the Arab Orthodox Movement, recognizing the conflict between Arab Orthodox laity and the Greek-dominated Jerusalem Orthodox Patriarchate as part of the broader nationalist struggle.
