UTOPIAN COMMUNITY MOVEMENT
- Est. to escape rising corruption and competition of industrial America (wanted to go back to the good old days)
- Tended to stress sexual and social equality
- Ex. Shakers, Oneida, Mormons

TEMPERENCE MOVEMENT
- Big for women's involvement
- Only reform movement that really caught on in the South

CULT OF DOMESTICITY
- Replaces Republican Motherhood
- Women may participate in religious/reform politics
- Role to maintain home for husband and raise children
- Heavily restricted employement
- All a woman's property is her husband's
