While arresting Floyd, officer Derek Chauvin knelt on the black man’s neck for over nine minutes, despite Floyd’s repeated pleas that he couldn’t breathe. Floyd’s death sparked widespread protests against police brutality and systemic racism, igniting a global movement for racial justice and police reform.
