From the 24th to the 29th of October 1929, a major stock market crash, the Wall Street Crash, occurred, which then led to the Great Depression.
During the optimistic 1920's, people were interested to invest into stocks and shares, where it was believed to make a great fortune.
On the 3rd of September 1929, stock prices were at an all-time high.
However, soon after this, the market prices began to drop. This led to mass panic selling, and by October 1929, the market value had more than halved.
