Title IX was a law that was passed in order to prevent sexual discrimination in the classroom. This followed the Civil Rights Act, and was important at the time as it led to even less discrimination in education. It started with equal rights in regards to race, and now gender was being included in equal educational rights. This is relevant today because it ensures that all students of different genders are given the same opportunities and privileges in education.
