Julius and Ethel were a couple living in Manhattan. Ethel's brother worked on the Manhattan Project, developing the first nuclear weapons. He often told the couple what was happening. He even admitted to the couple giving the Soviets information on the bombs. This trial was very controversial. Some people believed they were innocent, but the were both executed in 1953, for the U.S was in no position for the Soviets to have a leg up.
