China Airlines Flight 611, a Boeing 747, disintegrated in mid-air and crashed into the Taiwan Strait on 25th May 2002. All 225 passengers and crew members aboard the flight perished, making it the deadliest air disaster in Taiwanese history.Investigations into the crash revealed that it was caused by improper repairs to the plane's fuselage following a tailstrike incident more than two decades earlier (seen in the video at 0:08).
