Descripción:

American philosopher and psychologist who made significant contributions to the development of psychology in the United States. He is often referred to as the "Father of American Psychology." William James was a leading figure in the development of functionalism and was interested in how mental processes and behaviours help individuals adapt to their environment through the concept of "habit". James introduced the concept of the "stream of consciousness" to describe the continuous flow of thoughts, feelings, and sensations in an individual's mind. His book "The Principles of Psychology" published in 1890 was considered one of the most important and influential texts in the history of psychology (James, 1890 ; Leary, 2002).
