Garibaldi's troops are poorly equipped and the expedition is widely considered a suicide attempt. Cavour disapproves of the plan but he thinks that in the worst case scenario at least he'll get rid of Garibaldi. Garibaldi reaches Sicily simultaneously with a British fleet and the Bourbon troops don't attack him as they mistake him for a British convoy. Garibaldi defeats the Bourbon army and takes control of the kingdom of the two Sicilies. Victor Emanuel II also raised and army and met Garibaldi at Teano, after conquering central Italy. Victor Emanuel II prevents Garibaldi from attacking Rome as it's under the protection of the French. Garibaldi hands over control of the Kingdom of the two Sicilies to Victor Emanuel II.
