Doomsday arrived at 05:27pm Greenwich Mean Time on the fifth of June, 2285. 96% of Earth’s inhabitants were lost. The tungsten sublight projectile tore through Earth’s surface digging a hole the entire way through and emerging out the other side damaged and slowed but still largely intact. It would later drift onwards and fall into the Sun. Earth’s atmosphere was ignited, filled with debris, and then eventually blown away by the shockwaves. The oceans would be evaporated by the intense heat, then would be kicked up into orbit of Earth in the form of gas and then crystallized ice. All organic matter on Earth’s surface, even the most extremophilic bacteria, were completely killed. People who hid in Bunkers found no sufficient protection from the impact, as several kilometers of Earth’s surface was upended and devastated. Those who were inhabiting Earth’s planetary ring would make up the majority of survivors, despite still losing many lives once debris from the impact began colliding with the ring. Out of 78 billion humans who inhabited the Earth, a number only made possible due to the ferrying of resources from the outer colonies, only 96 million Earth citizens and 23 million ring-habitat inhabitants made it off in time.
