10 ene 1920 año - Weaknesses of the League
Descripción:
The League was founded in the wake of the Paris Peace Conferences, and was immediately plagued with issues and problems. The first of these issues and a large part in why the league failed, is that the main architect of the league Woodrow Wilson, and to an extent the United States, failed to join. This Immediately tainted the image of the league and made it quite weak as at the time the Untied States wasn't nearly as devastated as the European powers after the Great War, and could actually back up the decisions and ideals of the League. This could be both militarily, and especially, economically. Following this the League continued to be befallen with issues and problems, principal of these was the lack of commitment by major nations such as Britain, Italy, and Japan. They were also ineffective of dealing with all global issues as Germany (invited in 1926) was initially not invited and many Germans associated the League with the Treat of Versailles. Another neglected nation was the newly created communist Soviet Union. They were not invited until 1935 and were seen as outsiders to many inside the league. This obviously led to poor relations between the two and ended with their expulsion following their invasion of Finland in late 1939.
