By tracing back the trajectory of the Tungsten projectile which obliterated Venus 6 years prior, Astronomers finally uncovered the location of the "Nibiru gateway".

Odd trajectories and accelerations of various small bodies in the Oort cloud had puzzled scientists for centuries, assuming that there must be a dimly lit and hard to detect "Planet 9" at the outer edges of the Solar system.

But this body, later termed "Nibiru", was not a planet nor a star nor a black hole. It was a wormhole singularity, existing as part of an interstellar gateway. The structure itself was constructed of a substance so dark that it reflects effectively zero light. The gateway itself appeared only as a blurry shimmer to observatories on earth, but once manned missions would actually reach and reactivate the gateway in 2200 they would see it in its full glory.

The two halves of the structure hold open a wormhole about a third the size of Pluto, but with a gravitational effect far beyond it's dimensions.

Humanity now knew that the projectile which destroyed Venus passed through this gateway, but they still had no idea who sent it, where they sent it from, or why.
