Following the increased governmental and economic ties forged by the founding of the Multinational Space Administration, the western world had grown more and more interconnected and interdependent.

The Nations of the USA and Canada had merged into the United States of North America or U.S.N.A. half a century prior, and in the decades that followed more and more nations began to request statehood within the USNA due to their military and/or economic fragility on their own (worsened by the Lunacy's period of instability as well as the great automation).

The first other nation to request statehood was the Island nation of the Bahamas, followed soon after by many other Caribbean island-states. Following that, Australia was the first major nation to officially request statehood, which inspired a rush of other members. New Zealand, South Africa, Japan, Argentina, Greenland, Iceland, Scotland, India, the United Kingdom, and many others followed, with almost all nations in western Europe and coastal Africa following suit soon after.

This massive political entity didn't form overnight, rather it snowballed into its new form as the years went on, but the U.N.W. officially ratified it's new constitution for the first time in 2099.

While the UNW was formed due to the results of economic crashes and massive poverty, its existence would slowly but assuredly lead to a better and more unified world in the decades to come.
