By this point in the 2040's, Augmented Rreality technology had improved in quality and capability to such a degree that it had become the industry default, with virtually no new devices being sold with physical monitors any more. Personal computers, smart phones, and other smart devices were now all controlled by hand gestures, voice prompts, eye movements, and in some cases even thoughts.

Wherever anyone went from this point onward, they would have an A.R. system on their person. Holograms, messages, warnings, and useful information would always be available to anyone who wanted it, no matter where they were.

The internet's power to connect people to each other and to digital media was faster than it had ever been before, and this medium of augmented reality would remain the way humans interacted with technology up into the present day in the 2,200's.
