Anticipating the eventual arrival of functional quantum computers, the world's governments under the UN began the unpopular rollout of a Digital ID system for all citizens. This rollout was, at least according to the United Nations, implemented primarily to provide humans with a way to digitally verify their identities that could not some day be fabricated by A.I. or quantum supercomputers.

Despite the unpopularity of this system due to the public belief that it fundamentally violated people's rights to privacy, the implementation was a success that all would eventually concede did actually help prevent digital chaos and insecurity in the decades of quantum computing to come.
