Gerard L. MacDonald , MDAs children's participation in sports has increased over the past few decades, so have the physiologic and psychological injuries. What are the long-term sequelae of these injuries? Which sports carry the highest risk of injury? Dr MacDonald believes that, since children's sports are here to stay, physicians and others have a responsibility to promote safety, reduce stress, and provide proper care for these budding athletes.
