Fantastic Beasts 2: new cast and plot details revealed

Jude Law's Dumbledore will team up with magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to hunt down dark wizard Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) in the Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them sequel, Warner Bros has revealed.
The new film in the series, which is scripted by Rowling and scheduled to hit cinemas in November 2018, will mark the first appearance of Law as a younger Dumbledore, although Depp's Grindelwald was previously revealed at the climax of the first Fantastic Beasts film.
While the villain was captured at the end of the first movie, in the sequel Grindelwald has since escaped - and the drive to find him will take Scamander and co to London and Paris, as well as the New York of the original.
Of course, as fans of JK Rowling's wizarding world will already know, Dumbledore's decision to try and bring down Grindelwald will likely prove an emotionally complex one, due to the fact that the two wizards used to be friends. Rowling's final Harry Potter novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow, detailed how the pair were close teenagers, before a tragic accident led to the death of Dumbledore's sister.
The author also later revealed that Dumbledore was gay and once in love in Grindelwald. Although this detail is not made explicit in the books, many fans are hoping that it will be explored in more detail in the Fantastic Beasts series.
The forthcoming sequel will also introduce a host of new characters, including Zoë Kravitz as Leta Lestrange, Scamanader's mysterious old school friend and former love interest (glimpsed in the first film in a photograph), and War & Peace star Callum Turner as Scamander's intimidating-sounding older brother Theseus, an "Auror and war hero".
"Yes, Leta Lestrange comes into the second movie," director David Yates previously confirmed, shedding further light on Kravitz's character. "She’s quite complicated and damaged and confused, and Newt is absolutely still in love with her. So, she has a kind of power over him, and she, yeah, she’s a kind of tragic figure, so we will see a bit more of her in the second movie."
It also sounds as if a wizarding circus will play a significant part in the plot: South Korean actress Claudia Kim has been cast as a young woman who stars in the circus as one of the attractions, while Ólafur Darri Ólafsson plays Skender, the circus boss.
New cast members also include French star William Nadylam as a wizard named Yusuf Kama, and Icelandic actor Ingvar Sigurdsson as a bounty hunter named Grimmson.
Katherine Waterston and Alison Sudol will return as wizarding sisters Tina and Queenie, as will Dan Fogler as baker Jacob Kowalski, the only most significant Muggle character (or No-Maj, to use the American term) to feature in any of Rowling's work to date.
Intriguingly, the new film will also confirm the fate of the troubled Credence (Ezra Miller), whose suppression of his magical abilities led to the formation of a deadly Obscurus parasite in the last film. Miller is confirmed to return in the role.
The Fantastic Beasts films are set in the same world as Harry Potter, but take place many years beforehand, with the first film taking place in 1926 , and this new sequel taking place in 1927.
A total of five films are planned, and some have suggested that the last one may be set in 1945, which is known to be the date of a final duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald, during which the latter was finally overpowered and imprisoned.
Filming for Fantastic Beasts 2, which is currently untitled, began today.
