JV had been the regiment's Oberstleutnant for a year and a half by the time Maggot took over, and initially he continued being second under Maggot.

Things soured between the two sometime after the implementation of the new system, mainly Headquarters would want certain things to be done, to which JV would go to Maggot to get his approval for the changes, only for Maggot to dismiss him and tell JV that he'd do it himself.

Maggot would end up not doing anything he said he would do, which was a issue that plagued him much of his tenure as Oberst, even when Muszy succeeded JV.

This cycle continued until JV had enough and stepped down from Oberstleutnant, handing it off to Muszy.
