Amnesty freed their first prisoner of conscience, Ukrainian Archbishop Josyf Slipyi in Siberia. This event had an extreme positive impact as it showed that Amnesty could accomplish many things by protesting. A lot of people were for Josyf Slipyi becoming free because he was wrongfully imprisoned. Not many people were affected by this as it only involved one person.
