1 ene 1969 año - People's Democracy march through Derry

Descripción:

PD was a splinter group of the civil rights movement and believed in a socialist republic in Ireland. They also believed that the Five Point Reform Programme was limited. As a result, they ignored O'Neill's plea and set out a march between Belfast and Derry. The police change routes of the march to avoid confrontation; however, attacks on the march were still prevalent with the worst attack being at Burntollet Bridge. Eyewitness evidence suggest the police stood around at let the attacks continue. Images of this event created further violence against Catholics in the Bogside area of Derry.
