7 agos 1942 año - The American Landings On Guadacanal
Descripción:
Guadalcanal was a place that no one had heard of or even knew how to pronounce. This place was so very uncharted by the Americans that they knew little to no information. On August 7, the US launched its first amphibious landing in WWII. American soldiers had heard a lot about the Japanese because they had won against military superpowers such as the Chinese and Russian militaries in combat. They were expecting that there would be lots of resistance, but after the first wave landed and the next wave, and then the next wave they received no resistance. This was because there were only labor workers on the island who were not militarily trained, there were only a couple hundred military troops on the island. This was all going to change very quickly though. The island of Guadalcanal is very close to Radule. Radule was a Japanese-held island right next to Guadalcanal loaded with Japanese forces and they were headed to Guadalcanal.
