Somehow the political situation in 33 (after the fall of Sejanus in Rome on October 31) better explain the vulnerability of Pilate to pressure from the people, but this is an argument too uncertain to justify a preference.

In fact, the veiled threat from the Jewish authorities to appeal to Caesar against Pilate (Jn 19:12) well supported that date, because they were likely to be understood. Yet, according to Philo of Alexandria, after the death of Sejanus in October 31 CE, Tiberius asked provincial governors to be considerate to the Jews, because the charges against them in the past [before 32 CE] were false (Legation to Gaius 159-161). This remark implies situating the trial of Jesus after 32 CE.
